NEW TESTAMENT
ACTS 9:36
As a disciple of Christ, He invites me to bless others.
Tabitha is introduced to us as a "certain disciple" and woman who was "full of good works and almsdeeds." Of all the ways to be described, these titles are the most prized. Robert D. Hales said, "Genuine discipleship is a state of being… Disciples live so that the characteristics of Christ are woven into the fiber of their beings, as into a spiritual tapestry" (Robert D. Hales, Becoming a Disciple of Our Lord Jesus Christ General Conference, May 2017). Tabitha strived to be a true disciple of Christ through word and deed and filled her days with service.
As true followers of Jesus, we promise to serve others as He did. We look to Him as our example and follow His instruction. "The works which ye have seen me do that shall ye also do" (3 Nephi 27:21). What are some of your favorite scripture stories in which the Savior sets an example of service? Consider ways you could bless those around you with your talents as Tabitha did.
